Your Donations Have Been So Helpful, but Are Still Needed
I am "Buttercup". "I am a little girl. My foster daddy accidentally opened the bathroom door on my legs and spine. I am 5 weeks old. I eat well, and do my "duty" on command by my caregiver stimulating me so I can go to the bathroom. I am excited to pull myself around with my front legs. I can even play with a ball. I have been seen by two doctors and they both hoped my "growth platelets in my spine would regenerate. My accident happened on Wednesday night 10-30-02. I have seen three doctors that all said there is a possibility the swelling would go down and let me regain movement again. Nothing happened until Monday 11-4-02 when I went for x-rays and another exam. My caregiver says one leg had a little movement. I am now told to expect a three - four week possible full recovery of movement.
11-18-02 I am playing now and using my back legs like flippers to move around. I can get going pretty fast, too. I chase my intensive caregiver's cat. I go back for another exam this week and I am taking daily medication and I am well taken care of. My caregiver has to get up three times in the night to make me go to the bathroom
Community Animal Network is a pro-quality life organization which means if I am not going to have a good life I will go to "Kitty Heaven". They are doing all they can. I am happy, playful, eating well and in no pain. I don't know what kitty heaven is, but if it will be best for me I know it will be right.
DECEMBER 5th
Buttercup is doing extremely well walking and running but sometimes wobbling and falling to drag her legs. But, up again without notice of a handicap. Her vet said to continue on with the meds and hope for continued improvement. She still has to have her bladder and colon expressed every three hours with makes her still unadoptable.
DECEMBER 15th Buttercup is making herself at home with
the big guys. (See her little head behind the the two big cats. She climbs
the cat tree all the way to the top and even manages to get down. She is
fearless and chases the big cats. She goes after their tails and gives the
wiggly tails a bite. They run, too. She chases on all four legs now!
However, she is still unable to use the litter box and is still not
adoptable. Buttercup has a bladder infection now and
continued diarrhea. She still is needing to be expressed. (can't use the
litter box). JANUARY 5, 2003 Buttercup has used the litter box twice
now . She has to be placed in it after stimulation and making
scratching sounds in the litter. Am unsure if she will be able to use the
box on her own as she may not feel the urge. MAY 20, 03 Adorable Buttercup continues to act like a normal little kitten. Her legs will sometimes splay out a bit differently but she can walk on them fine, although she has a bit of extra difficulty jumping and climbing. However she still requires help going to the bathroom at the appropriate place and time, otherwise she just holds it until it drops. C.A.N is accepting donations for me if you want to help
with my bills. C.A.N. is a vet medical account, your donations go
